Silent Vipassana Meditation with Somatic MovementThis unique week-long vipassana retreat will be held in noble silence and offer sitting and walking meditation, and mindful movement instruction. The movement class will emphasize bringing attention to the inner experience of the body in order to strengthen the concentration in the sitting and walking practices. This retreat will emphasize both the wisdom practices and the compassion practices in order to achieve a healing balance in mind, body and heart. Phillip Moffitt is a member of the Teacher's Collective at Spirit Rock Meditation Center and president of the Life Balance Institute. He also writes the "Dharma Wisdom" column for Yoga Journal. Moffitt's teaching style combines the idealism and insight of Eastern spiritual practices and Western psychology into practical application for achieving harmony in daily life. He has been practicing Sivananda and Iyengar yoga for 25 years. Adrianne has been involved with meditation and healing since 1978, practicing Vipassana since 1984. She is influenced by Dzogchen and other contemplative practices. Trained by Jack Kornfield, she leads meditation classes and retreats in Canada, at Spirit Rock and IMS. She has enjoyed offering women's retreats over the past 4 years. She practices Family Medicine in Vancouver, BC, and teaches mindfulness-based stress reduction to people with chronic pain and illness.

Awareness and EaseIn this traditional vipassana meditation retreat we will explore how relaxation facilitates our connection with natural spacious awareness. By developing a balance of alertness and ease in our meditation practice, we’ll increase our ability to meet the joys and sorrows of life with equanimity and kindness. The retreat will include both insight and loving kindness practices and is appropriate for both beginning and experienced meditators. Yoga/movement meditation will be offered each afternoon. Rebecca Bradshaw has been practicing vipassana meditation since 1983, and teaching since 1993. She teaches frequently at the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA, where she leads the teen and young adult retreats and is a member of the annual Three Month Retreat team. Rebecca is the Guiding Teacher of the Insight Meditation Center of Pioneer Valley in Easthampton, MA, and the Buddhist advisor at Mount Holyoke College. She also holds a master's degree in Counseling Psychology and works as a psychotherapist in the inner city. Her teaching emphasizes gentleness, love, and depth in the development of our practice.
