Living in the heart of the Dharma

Cloud Mountain Retreat Center is a residential center whose primary mission is to offer intensive meditation retreats in the Buddhist tradition. The ideal candidate has the desire to integrate their work with practice, is hard-working, and would make use of the opportunities to participate in retreats. Staff members at Cloud Mountain Retreat Center are blessed with the opportunity to serve others while developing spiritually in a supportive environment. We are seeking mature individuals with an established meditation practice who have a dedication to service in a retreat environment and have the ability to live harmoniously with others. It is required that any applicant have been on at least one silent meditation retreat, preferably a 7-day or longer silent meditation retreat.

Benefits for Staff-practitioner Include:

Responsibilities include: relief cooking; pre- and post-retreat set up; ongoing housekeeping and interior cleaning; inventory and restocking of center supplies; working with volunteers when they are assigned to cleaning tasks; providing retreat support; other tasks and projects as assigned by the Center Manager. The ideal candidate has experience in cooking for groups; however, we can train individuals with strong, basic cooking skills. Flexibility and a commitment to service is a must. The work week varies according to the retreat schedule, but averages 30 - 35 hours a week.
