Every human being wants to be happy, even though we aren’t always sure how to go about it. The stress of perpetually rearranging the circumstances of our life takes its toll. Buddha suggested that we have underestimated the capacity of our hearts. Retreat helps us remember. Together, we sit in the refuge provided by a 2600-year legacy of wisdom and kindness. Through the process of meditation, we practice pausing, looking deeply, and knowing experience as it actually is, rather than ideas about how it should be. In this stillness, we grow our capacity to love what we discover.

On this silent retreat, the teachers will offer systematic instructions in insight (vipassana) meditation, as well as in loving-kindness (metta) practice. Daily practice periods will include sitting, walking, and an optional mindful movement session. The evening talks will highlight key Buddhist teachings and their practical application to our lives. There will also be meetings with the teachers throughout the retreat to support your practice. Both new and experienced meditators are welcome.
